Dr. Keeli Stumbo, M.D.

My philosophy and passion toward treating those with this disease stemmed from having had family members, friends, and patients with addiction issues. I believe that treating the physical symptoms is only a small part of the process. The need for a holistic approach is extremely important for each individual to understand and accept the nature of this disease. If we treat the body only and still have a sick mind and spirit, we may never recover. Our goal is to treat the body, mind, and spirit of each individual in our program. Counseling is a huge part of this particular program. Our clinical team is prepared to work very hard to ensure you can continue your healing by offering several modalities of therapy for recovery.

I now practice medicine in a fashion that incorporates preventive measures along with dietary recommendations and trauma recovery if needed. The mind is a complex system that tells us what we want to hear. The beautiful thing about the mind is that patterns can be altered if we choose a different path. As human beings we are confronted with difficult choices on a daily basis. The process we offer includes medical and prescription treatment along with dietary support and various therapies to promote comprehensive treatment for your recovery.

I was born in Texas and raised in Texas. I grew up in a small town and always wanted to achieve great things. After graduating from high school, I moved to Lubbock, Texas and lived there for 18 years. I attended Texas Tech University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, I chose to attend medical school at Texas Tech, followed by an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency. While in residency I was named outstanding student teacher, published a research study, and had the honor of being named chief resident at the fourth year of residency. Prior to joining True Connections, I spent three years practicing family medicine in a rural setting.

Welcome to our program and I look forward to meeting you!

In the session, there is a blend of conventional and alternative approaches to help clients reach their personal strengths and goals. The counseling relationship is based on creating an accepting, respectful, warm, collaborative working environment to guide you to re-write new and healthy scripts. The key is to construct opportunities for you to gain insights into personal patterns and simultaneously strengthen connections in relationships. Efforts will focus on helping you explore your strengths and successes and explore effective ways to enhance personal growth and relationship satisfaction.

Counseling is a tool one uses to identify personal shortcomings as well as gaining insight into one’s own self-exploration. My approach to counseling begins with establishing a working collaboration with the client. As the therapist, I believe it is my responsibility to demonstrate to each client that they are in a safe, trusting, environment and help them understand why they are having difficulties. Additionally, counseling encompasses adhering to ethics established in the profession and not interjecting my personal beliefs and values into the therapeutic process.

Most importantly, letting clients know and feel they are the most important aspect of any process is a must. Each client is unique and will present different challenges. Using different counseling modalities, adapted to the uniqueness of each client, will help get to the core issues. This is the key to helping clients come to positive resolutions. In doing so, this will empower clients and provide them the ability to overcome challenges as they arise in the future.

Life can consist of a myriad of twists and turns that stretch you in ways you could never imagine. It can also push you to reach heights you never thought you could. However, it can be overwhelming trying to maneuver through the process alone, and can be challenging trying to find balance in the midst of the chaos. Even the things that seem simple, such as discovering your purpose in life, learning to grow when you feel things are stagnant, and being heard when the noise is so loud can be emotionally taxing.

My goal is to help you explore new possibilities by developing healthy coping skills to overcome the hardships life brings, reach your full potential, and lead healthy and holistic lives. I use a variety of therapeutic methods to explore past experiences, determine the origin of behavioral patterns, and determine the impact they have on your life today.

I recognize that faith in God is a major aspect in the journey to growth, overcoming adversities, and excelling to new heights. It is my desire to build a rapport with you, so I can be a part of your process to help facilitate change, promote healing, discover your inner strengths, and begin the process to take things to the next level.
